Relieve the stress

We all have them! Those days (or weeks) when things just don’t go well or get on top of you. So, how do you relieve the stress, or get over the irritation?

I like to go for a walk, preferably where there are many trees, or a river, where I can hear the birds sing, or the water running over stones, and maybe even catch a squirrel searching for nuts. They’re very active where I live now, eating and storing up for the Winter. Who can resist a smile when one of these little fellas stops to sit on a branch and look at you while chewing on an acorn?

Or, you could just break stuff!! No, I don’t mean just for the sake of it, or to be destructive, but the start of what we call a “rip out” of a newly acquired property that is set for a refurb.

I’ve had a rather emotional week, but again, couldn’t help but smile and have a laugh with “the boys” as they set about their task with much glee, as carpets were ripped up, and dirty old shelving and bathroom units came crashing down!

I must add here that we do a full assessment before this process gets underway, and salvage anything worthwhile or usable, as money does not grow on trees (unlike acorns!), and we genuinely do have our client’s interests at heart, and after all, are in this business to grow and make money for all parties concerned.

A lovely solid fireplace surround was carefully removed from the wall, and although slightly dated, kitchen tiles left intact. (Actually, I liked them, but then I’m dated too!). The kitchen itself is pretty neat and clean, so that’s all staying. Walls will be stripped of old paper, carpeting is already in the “skip”, a new bathroom will be fitted, wiring checked throughout and the heating system is to get a much-needed upgrade – a few new radiators, etc.

It is tough to give you an overall picture of the properties currently undergoing refurbs, as there are so many. Suffice it to say, that if you wanted to see what happens at pretty much any part of the process, we have a property at that point!

So, I leave you with the thought that there is always something to be grateful for. Take 5 minutes to make note of a few blessings in your life every day, and take time to enjoy nature!
